Watch Swallows and Amazons at Dusk
Picnic Cinema have teamed up with Brantwood for an atmospheric outdoor screening of Swallows and Amazons on 31 August.
The evening event will include the 1974 movie and music by Room Full of Mirrors. It will take place at Brantwood, overlooking Coniston Water, close to many of the locations where the movie was shot.
The Arthur Ransome Trust will have a small stall at the event. Please do come and say hello, if you are interested in finding out more about the Trust, want to chat about Arthur Ransome’s life, his books, or the film, or want to take the opportunity to buy some (or all!) of the Swallows and Amazons novels.

Around 100 guests visited Brantwood last night for the official opening of Imagination and Reality: the Art of Arthur Ransome. A fine spring evening helped visitors enjoy both the exhibition and the main house at Brantwood.
The exhibition is now open daily until September 4, accompanied by a series of lectures and events at Brantwood and Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Kendal.

We’re pleased to announce details of our first Temporary Moorings exhibition, Imagination and Reality: the Art of Arthur Ransome, which will be taking place in partnership with The Brantwood Trust from 19 May to 5 September, 2011.
The exhibition will be in the Blue Gallery at Brantwood, John Ruskin’s former home on the east side of Coniston Water. It will explore Arthur Ransome’s approach to illustrating the landscapes and plots of the Swallows and Amazons novels through examples of his original sketches and artwork.
A programme of occasional public lectures and events will run alongside the exhibition, offering insights into many aspects of Arthur Ransome’s life.

Voyages of Discovery Finishes at Bristol
Our first Voyages of Discovery display closed at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre on the afternoon of January 15. The Old Vic’s highly-successful production of Swallows and Amazons ended on the same evening.
You can see the comments and feedback we received about both the display and the musical by going to the Voyages of Discovery at the Bristol Old Vic review page in the Previous Events section of our website, or go to our Galleries to see more photographs from Bristol.
We’d just like to take this opportunity to thank all at the Old Vic for their enthusiam and help, and to thank all those who took time to look at Voyages of Discovery and to comment on it.

The Bristol Old Vic’s highly-acclaimed and popular adaptation of Swallows and Amazons finishes its run this Saturday, January 15, with both matinee and evening performances. As of 11.00am today, January 13, there are some spaces at this afternoon’s matinee available, plus one standing space at this evening’s performance and one standing space and one restricted view seat at Saturday evening’s finale.
