Information About the Arthur Ransome Trust Project: Voyages of Discovery.
This page contains introductory information about Voyages of Discovery, mobile Arthur Ransome Trust exhibitions and displays.
.
Voyages of Discovery is a rolling programme of small-scale mobile and temporary displays, designed to introduce Arthur Ransome’s life and works. Voyages of Discovery may take place throughout the UK.
We are working to create display materials that can be used by libraries, museums, schools, sailing clubs, youth groups and other organisations: in short in any location and by anybody who wants to help people discover Arthur Ransome’s life and works. When complete, we envisage that the materials will range from one or more A3 sized posters suitable for notice boards, up to a co-ordinated mobile exhibition.
We envisage that some displays may be mounted by organisations. Others may be led by individuals who want to support the Trust and can work locally with suitable organisations. Some may be “stand alone”; others may involve more input by the Trust, working in partnership with the hosting organisation.
Latest Developments
Voyages of Discovery will be on tour with the Swallows and Amazons Musical from January 17, 2012 to May 19, 2012. This follows our first Voyage at the Bristol Old Vic in 2010 – 2011.
(update 15 December, 2011).
How can I help?
If you are an individual or organisation who feels they would like to take part in Voyages of Discovery, please let us know using our contacts page. Likewise, if you have ideas about how our Voyages of Discovery material might be developed, or can offer expertise in designing, developing or producing such materials, please do not hesitate to let us know.
If you would like to support Voyages of Discovery financially, please see our support information for details of how to do so.
Your support can help directly towards Voyages of Discovery. We anticipate that creating our initial mobile exhibition display will cost around £1,000. Your support can help towards this, and towards its further development in the future. Thank you!
