Background
In 1928 Ransome was persuaded to write a script for a play at Withington Girl’s School, where Peggy Scott, the daughter of Ransome’s Manchester Guardian newspaper editor, Ted Scott, was a pupil. He turned for inspiration to Aladdin, the story he’d previously visited in Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp (1919).
Synopsis
Aladdin and His Lamp consists of “five scenes of tem minutes each (or less)“. The publication contains the play script and stage diagrams.
