Welcome to the ART Website!

.

We are pleased to announce the launch of our website; it is an important stage in the development of the Arthur Ransome Trust (ART).

The Trust was formed in February, 2010, and registered with the Charity Commission (no 1136565) in June. The Trust is dedicated to helping people to learn about, experience, understand, appreciate and enjoy the life and works of the English author Arthur Ransome.

You can read more about the Trust and our aims in our Welcome and About sections. Our Projects section explains the ideas and plans we’re beginning to research and develop. If you want to know more about how you can help the Trust, you can do so in our Support section.

Our Arthur Ransome section includes basic information about Ransome’s life and works. We will look to expand this as the Trust develops.

We welcome all constructive feedback, enquiries and ideas. We realise we have set ourselves a big challenge and that we will need a lot of help! Please don’t hesitate if you want to get in touch.

We look forward to hearing from you,

Geraint Lewis (Trustee).

  • Just to add to this news item: we’ve now finished setting up the comments facility, so please don’t hesitate to let us know your thoughts, suggestions and ideas. If you’d prefer to send comments privately, you can still do so to contact@arthur-ransome-trust.org.uk, or by using the email template on the Contact page.

Looking good! Worth shortening the length of the post title so it doesn’t wrap to two lines??

  • geraint says:

Yes, good point & thanks – I hope that looks better?

  • Adam Quinan says:

I was looking for a link to a comments page or registration and I still am not clear how this works even though I found my way here. Could you please put in a bit more explanation about how to comment etc.

Otherwise, good luck with the Trust and I will see what I can do.

  • geraint says:

Many thanks for your encouragement, Adam!

Thanks also for the feedback re commenting. We’ll take a look at this and add clearer information for users asap. In the meantime, the basic options are to either email us via the template on the Contact Us page (ie privately, so whatever you say won’t be published), or you can submit a public comment to any news article (as you’ve just done). We’re currently moderating comments before they appear, primarily to filter out any spam messages that evade our anti-spam software. This means that submitted comments won’t appear immediately, but we will, of course, try to keep any dealy as short as possible. Sorry for any confusion caused.

To add to my previous comment: I’ve just realised I hadn’t enabled replies on a couple of the news items, which may be one reason why you were having trouble making sense of it, Adam. Basically each news item should have a “leave a reply” template available (click on “click here to read more” to read the full news item, and the template should appear beneath it). Hope that makes sense.

  • Adam Quinan says:

Reply function is much clearer now its been enabled!

Glad to hear it! As Nancy Blackett once said, “everyone’s got to learn”, altough I don’t suppose she was anticipating teething troubles on websites…
